La Plata Pomona Chili Cook-off

Mt. Allison Grange hosted the second Chili Cook-off for La Plata Pomona Granges on March 12.  There were approximately 45 people in attendance. 

There were thirteen chili entries with Tandy Nossman receiving first Place with a green chili, Karen Baxter - 2nd place with a red chili and Margaret Sutton - 3rd place with a green chili.  Cindy Greer received the People's choice award for a red chili. The People's Choice award was a tight race with a couple of other entries very close.  The chili awards were $50.00 for first place plus an embroidered apron, $30.00 for second, $25.00 for third and People's Choice.

Jim Sutton did an outstanding job of auctioning off eight pies and one cake raising $410.00.  Sharon Nossman recieved first Place for her pecan pie, Mary Lou Campbell second place for a strawberry rhubarb pie and Shirley Engler third for a cherry pie. Each was presented with a prize.

Larry Corman acted as MC for the  talent show which consisted of acts presented by Kendrick Nossman, Tyce Nossman, Isaac Greer, Tyler Gummersall, the Pearson sisters and Vicki Sutton.

The total donations for the evening was $630.00 which goes into the National 2011 fund.  Thank you to Shirley Engler, Sharon Nossman, Karen Baxter, Louetta Phelps, Shanda Price, Jim Sutton and Larry Corman for coordinating various aspects of the evening.
